It is not surprising that tourists flock to the islands that make up Hawaii. The friendly people, beach life and sunshine are attractive features. Visitors want to eat well too and Hawaiian food never disappoints. Other favorite staples are coconut, breadfruit, passion fruit, papaya, mango bread and Portuguese Sweet Bread. Sometimes, the local people like their Hawaiian food to be cooked in an Imu, which is a traditional earth oven.

Eating out is all part of the experience on the islands. The first ever restaurant was opened by a Portuguese man in the capital, Honolulu in 1849. If visitors want to eat like the locals, they could choose Spam. This immensely popular food was introduced by US servicemen during World War II. It's usually fried and accompanied by rice, or deep-fried or stir-fried with cabbage. It can also be mashed in tofu or served with Baked Macaroni and Cheese. If served at breakfast time, it's eaten with fried eggs. Another popular meat dish is strips of beef, marinated in sauce.

Fish is an important part of the diet and contributes to the healthy element in Hawaiian food. Tuna is the most versatile and is grilled or sauted. It is also eaten raw as Sashimi in the Japanese style. Other common catches are Red Snapper, Pink Snapper, Pacific Blue Marlin, Swordfish, and the Wahoo.

To flavor the food, Hawaiians favor the Japanese sauce, Teriyaki or Wasabi, a kind of Japanese horseradish. The Chinese influence can be seen in the common usage of Chinese Five Spice Powder and Soy Sauce. There are plenty of desserts to choose from in Hawaiian food, including Kulolo, made from taro corms and coconut. A chocolate cake, known as Chantilly Cakes, is also popular.

Drinks to accompany the food are often in the form of some kind of fruit juice whilst rum is the most popular alcohol cocktail. Hawaii does, however, have a growing wine and micro brewing beer industry.

Every internal or external event in your life that happens is interpreted through your brain. If in fact we have a positive feeling about a life event, that's a Non-Problem Status. And so we really only need to worry about life dramas when they create a negative emotion. Why? This article, the first of seven, will help you understand why.

Right now - today, I'm going to share with you the importance of using your emotional brain to realize how your body reacts to events.

Randy Pausch, a 47 year old college professor, who died recently of pancreatic cancer, said, "Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want". What is your experience of events in your life?

Dr Mike Gosling said, "Life is a series of events. Every event is an opportunity for change. And, rom the most painful events that you change the most." Do you agree with what Dr. Mike has said?

Every life event that occurs, gets interpreted by your brain. External events are received into your brain through our five senses and we are constantly busily examining our internal environment alsol - what's going on inside of our brain and body - to assess and to work out what's going on in our life. If we have positive feelings about life events, that's a Non-Problem Status. Because when good things occur, it's 'no problem' for us, we don't care. In fact we feel good about it.

If in fact we have a positive feeling about a life event, that's a Non-Problem Status. Because when good things happen to us, it's not a problem to us, we don't care. In fact we feel good about it.

And so we really only need to worry about life dramas when they create a negative emotion and when we have a negative experience. Why?

Every single negative experience that we have will result in us accumulating stress, because every single emotion, every single negative emotion that you have, is actually an Adrenalin response.

To go further, if I were to draw for you a cartoon sketch of a cross-section of our brain, the two major parts of the brain that are useful to know about is that section that resides just above the brain stem. It's called the Limbic System and the Cortex, the thinking part of the brain.

The Limbic System accomplishes all the feeling in the brain. This is a primitive part of the brain - and animals have a Limbic system - and it is responsible for our preservation instinct.

The other part of the brain, which does all of the thinking, is the Cortex. Human beings have a very developed Cortex, therefore we have a larger brain than most animals. The Limbic System and the Cortex are constantly inter-reacting with one another.

For our test we compared a 300ml bottle of professional salon shampoo and compared that with a 300ml bottle of your average cheap high street shampoo. To achieve the our required standard of cleaning, the professional salon shampoo needed just 10ml per application to achieve this standard, whereas the cheap high street shampoo needed 50ml per application to achieve the same standard of cleaning.

Needing 50ml per application, a 300ml bottle of cheap high street shampoo would give you about 6 applications. But using only 10ml per application, the professional hair care shampoo gives you approximately 30 applications in a 300ml bottle. Comparing the prices, the price per application of the professional salon shampoo is $0.66c/GBP0.33p per application, and the cheap average high street shampoo worked out at $0.64c/GBP0.32p per application.

Conclusion: although cheap hair care products initially seem a better deal and provide more value, in reality there is virtually no difference in price when it comes to the economics of professional salon hair care products. And? when you include the much higher quality, the greater effectiveness and visual results, and the deeper and more thorough cleansing and conditioning of salon hair care products, buying cheaper high street hair products in favour of salon hair products is a complete false economy.

All that's required is a semi-open mind and your bare hands and feet.

It's essentially a hand or foot massage, yes. But reflexology is more than that. Well, it kind of depends on the intentionality of your masseuse. A reflexologist is trained to correspond points on your hands and feet (and sometimes ears) to certain organs or functions of the body. For instance, the hollow of the foot is said to correspond to your stomach. Have a bad case of Tennis Elbow? Have that part of your foot rubbed.

I know this may all sound like poppycock, but even the esteemed journal, Neuroscience Letters, claims that there is indeed a neural link between the brain and the foot. Of course, I would say, how else are we able to walk? Thanks, I'll be here all week! But seriously, folks, there is something to be said for this form of therapy. I know because it worked for me. My chronic headaches, which bordered on migraines, have abated since I started getting my hands rubbed.

Outlandish, sure. Insane, perhaps. But the bottom line: it works for me. It could work for you. It's like Tai Chi -- some people swear they can feel the chi running through their bodies. Other people punch people like that in the stomach and laugh. It's hard to say and I do sympathize with those of you who are creeped out by other people touching their hands and feet.

Therefore, to avoid the contact of humans, I recommend a terrifying foot massager. You can find models that are electric (and hence vibrating) or wooden (and do nothing but get mashed into your soft spots). The vibrating ones get the job done and even come with warm water jets and DVD players. I'm just kidding about the DVD players. Regardless, it's something that could work for some people, and if something works, why not give it a shot?

You may want to have your parents check with their employer to see if they have COBRA available. If COBRA is offered, this would permit the plan to be extended for 18 months, but it may well not be the most affordable alternative. You may still find campus insurance to be cheaper.

Some of the campus insurance provides coverage during vacations or if you travel outside of the United States, while some others may not. If you chose Student Health Insurance you may want to know the conditions that would not be covered.

Talk to other students and ask them what kind of insurance that they use prior to choosing one. You may also want to make yourself aware of the basic terminology before trying to comparison shop.

Understanding the differences will really help you out a lot. The deductible must be paid prior to the insurance company paying for any expenses. Co-payments are a fixed amount that you have to pay each time you use one of their services, for example if you have a doctor's appointment and need a prescription. Coinsurance still has to be paid, following the deductible for the expenses you sustain for health expenses.

I Gave Up on Fad Diets and Used This Method to Lose Weight

Have you ever been at a point when nothing seems to work for you? I know I was! Not too long ago, I became fatter when I was under enormous stress. I ate a lot of food in order to get rid of stress and the result was that I became overweight. Guess what, I didn't like my fat tummy at all. So here is what would happen: I would follow a diet for a four to five weeks, lose weight, get fed up with its restrictions, get back to my normal diet, and then gain back the 'lost' weight. Bottom line, I was getting nowhere with these diet plans!

I noticed that I had had enough of diets so I was surely not going back to them; it is of no use wasting time on something that works only for a short while and becomes ineffective after that. This time I tried something natural.
